My sister has 5 children and 4 of them are girls. All of the girls have summer birthdays, 1 in June, 2 in July and 1 in August. A few weeks ago we decided to attempt birthday photo shoots at my house for the June and July birthdays. My oldest niece is also turning 8 and getting baptized, so we had to do a few scripture pictures too.

It was a bit crazy with 7 kids running around but we got them done and they are so cute!! We also had an impromptu shoot with the two 3 year olds (one mine, one hers), who were feeling a little left out and wanted their pictures taken as well. If you can't tell, they were feeling a little silly...

Meet my beautiful sister-in-law Divinity, who is pregnant with her third baby. After two girls, I am excited for her to have a boy, especially since it will give my little guy someone to play with when they get older. While I was up in Utah a few weeks ago, we decided to do a maternity shoot and we had SO much fun. We found a few perfect props just hanging around the property, and decided to use them. Here she is at 34 weeks and counting...hopefully her sweet baby boy will make his debut this weekend so I can see him in person!!

Isn't this #3 perfect since she is having her third child? Love it!

This frame was just laying in the field so Didi picked it up and rocked some pictures with it!

I cannot believe how much this little sweetie has grown! In the year I've been out of state, she has changed from a baby to a little girl....and it made me really sad. For not remembering who I was, she was SO good for her pictures! Having her teddy there helped out and we got some cute shots with the two of them together! We had a fun time at Gardner Village, plus it doing this shoot meant extra time I got to spend with her mom, aka "my bestie".

This wonderful family has been featured several times on my blog. I visited Utah for a few days and managed to get in a quick shoot with them at Murray Park. I can't believe how much little D has grown since I last saw him. :( It makes me sad that I'm missing so much while I'm away. BUT, I'm glad I got to spend some time with them and take a few pictures while little buddy stayed happy. My favorite part? How happy he was at the end of the shoot to wear his sunglasses. What a stud!

This fun family couldn't have picked a better day for their photo shoot. It was overcast but not rainy and the temperature was perfect! We had a bit of a confusing start because we were waiting for each other at two different places, but in the end it all worked out and we got some great pictures.

I love shooting young kids because they don't care about the camera and they know exactly what they want out of life. This little guy was dying to climb the trees, so we turned that desire into a picture perfect moment!

Don't think tree climbing is just for boys! Big sister wanted her shot in the trees too.

Meet my only sister and her adorable family! I am lucky enough to live closer to her now, than I have in the past 7 years. We announces we were pregnant on the same day, with the same due date, and had our babies 4 days apart. Isn't that every set of sisters dream? It couldn't have worked out more perfectly if we'd planned it! I am so happy that we are getting to spend a LOT more time together and although we couldn't be more opposite, I love her SO much. I've never met a more wonderful mother and wife, than this woman right here. I love you sis! And your cute family too! (That's right Tim, C.U.T.E.!)

Here are those two darling girls again, only this time they brought mom and dad along for the shoot! Dad (like most men), wasn't too keen on getting his picture taken, but kept us all laughing with his witty comments. The girls were adorable as usual, and mom . . . well, what can I say? You're beautiful AND photogenic. No fair.

Oh and by the way. . . no Bree, you don't get to come along when my family gets our pictures taken!! ;) I turn into such a monster when my children aren't good for the camera, you'd probably never want to be friends again!

Here is my first shoot (besides my kids) in Arizona! These two darling girls are daughters of a new friend and were so fun to photograph. They got to use some of my new backdrops and props, including this white backdrop I've had since I was pregnant! These girls were so patient with me, even when my equipment was malfunctioning. I haven't shot a lot of older kids in studio, but we had a great time and their pictures turned out great! Stay tuned for family pictures with their parents in a few days . . .

Remember the Atherley's? Lisa and I used to work together and ended up getting pregnant around the same time! I miss working with her but I glad we were able to enjoy the beautiful canyon so I could do some family pictures for her. It was a little crazy with three little ones, but we got some good pictures. This family was one of my first clients and I'm so happy that they keep coming back! I fell in love with these boys the first time I photographed them and they just keep getting cuter. . .I mean handsome. :) They were very well behaved and we got some really great shots. They actually posed themselves at one point and asked me to take their picture! Super cute.

I've said this before, but I have never seen brothers who love each other so much. Plus, they respect their mom and obey what she says which is pretty amazing. You've done a great job with them Meagan, you should be proud of the cute gentlemen they are turning into! I can't wait to see them again next year . . .

This next shoot is the one Utah shoot I was most nervous for. Family pictures with little children are always difficult, but even more so when you have a photographer that has big ideas, and doesn't understand the limited attention spans of toddlers. Luckily, I am not that photographer and I happen to LOVE this family almost as much as my own.

Meet Sarah (my best, BEST friend) and her darling family. No pressure right? :) Her kids did really well considering there was a lot to see and explore. Plus, we even got Seth to smile for pictures and kiss Sarah on camera! It was a quick shoot, but I consider it a success. I hope you love them Sarah. Miss you~

Here is the 2nd of the 5 shoots I did in Utah last week. You may recognize Mindi from her maternity shoot or Deron from his newborn shoot, but this is the first time I've gotten to photograph the whole family together. We got a ton of great shots, plus Deron was very patient with his costume change, despite the 90 degree heat! I love, love, love shooting babies who are 6 months old, so I was in heaven with this smiley little sweetheart. How CUTE is he?? Ah, I love this job.

I don't usually photography newborns past 2 weeks, but I made an exception for Avery. We worked together and were due 2 days apart. She was lucky enough to have Chloe extra early but I didn't have time to squeeze in a shoot before I had my little guy. (And I just have to say that not only was I jealous that she had her baby before me, but she also got to use the name I wanted if I would have had a girl!) Here is her little doll at 5 1/2 weeks!

This sweet little guy belongs to my dear friend Mindi. Remember the mom in my last maternity shoot with a basketball belly? That basketball has since been transformed into this tiny ball of boy. He gave his mom a break by coming 2 1/2 weeks early! He was born with a clubbed left foot and he got his first of several casts on the day before his shoot. He was an angel despite being irritated by the plaster cast! His mom and dad are HUGE Utah Jazz fans, particularly Deron Williams (in case you couldn't tell by their sons name or his jazz outfit)!

I went to high school and danced together with Nicolette. You may recognize her from her family pictures I took last fall. She just had darling baby #2 and brought her in for some newborn pictures. Sweet little Danika was perfect and slept the whole time!! Older sister Katelyn wanted in on the action too so we snapped a couple of her at the end and I loved that she matched my backdrop perfectly.

Julie and I used to work together before she headed to American Fork Hospital to be an ER nurse. Her sweet little boy just turned six months old and I LOVED shooting him. Meet the A family. I danced with Melinda in high school and grew up in the same neighborhood as Clifton. They were so fun to photograph and the kids did REALLY well. Isn't their little family just darling?

Getting Up and Running

I am a part-time nurse, full-time mom who became interested in photography after getting frustrated paying high prices at in-store photography studios and not getting the shots I really wanted because I was rushed. I wanted photos I could proudly hang on the wall, that captured my child the way I remember her!

I'm mostly self-taught and am still working to improve my photography with every shoot. I LOVE taking pictures of people and enjoy every shoot I do. I recently opened a small studio in my home and can't wait to get more use out of it.

I have one sweet toddler at home and another on the way so although I'm busy, I'd love to capture your life's precious moments!

As a working mom, I understand how difficult it can be to set up appointments. I am happy to schedule a shoot around your availability, simply send me an email with possible dates and times and we can go from there!

I typically shoot at 9:00am or 5:30pm because this is when natural lighting is the best. If neither of these times works for you, we may be able to schedule something else although the location of your shoot may have to be altered.

{Newborns}: I prefer to photograph newborns during the first two weeks of life. They are more sleepy during this time frame which makes the best pictures! I also encourage parents who attend newborn photo sessions to wear black long-sleeved shirts. Also, I understand that newborns have to eat and sleep more often than usual so don't worry if you have to feed the baby or spend a few moments snuggling during your shoot!

{Maternity}: Maternity shots are usually the best when taken between 6 1/2 to 8 months pregnant. Please bring a black long-sleeved shirt to your shoot as well as any other outfits or props you desire!

{Children}: Feel free to bring any props, blankets, favorite toys, hats etc. to the shoot! They usually make the best pictures. *

{Family}: Try to coordinate colors among everyone in the photo so they don't clash. Avoid patterns and flashy prints that might detract from the photograph. Also, decide whether you want a dressy or more casual shoot and dress accordingly!

***Please do not bring sick babies or children to a session. It isn't fair to me or the child as they will not photograph well while they are ill. If your child is sick on the day of your shoot, I will happily reschedule with you for another illness-free time!
